TREKKING IN NEPAL |
A trekking trip can start at low elevations and can take you up to 10,500ft, 13,000ft, 16,000ft and as high as 18,000ft above sea level such as Kalapattar. For example, one to two weeks of trekking in the Everest Region starts at Lukla Airport at 9315ft, or some trips start at lower elevations and last longer like the four week trek starting at 6,354ft in Jiri. How high you want to trek depends on your fitness and desire. Each trekking trip is rated as Easy, Moderate and Strenuous. So, choose your level of trek based on this rating and/or ask us for consultation. Some treks are done in the foothills of the Himalaya where the rise and fall of elevations may not affect you. |

MOUNTAINEERING |
Nepal has eight of the highest peaks in the world, and has been the focus of some of the most outstanding achievements in the world of mountaineering. For many decades the dauntless icy peaks have posed as challenge to those who dare. There are some 326 peaks in Nepal open for mountaineering today. Government of Nepal opened around 175 peaks in the last two years to mark the Mount Everest Golden Jubilee Celebrations.Climbing permit to scale the Nepal Himalaya is issued in all seasons by the Mountaineering Section of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation. Certain official documents are required to seek permission for climbing peaks. Around 121 peaks do not require a liaison officer for any foreign expedition. Fees or ties depend on the height of the peak starting at US$1,000 for peaks below 6,501 meters (21,323ft) and rising by US$500 for every 500 meters (1640ft).More information about mountaineering on our website http://www.sherpajourneys.net/mountaineering.php |

It is a superb destination for jungle walks to see wildlife, elephant back safari to see the one horned rhinoceros and possible sighting of Royal Bengal Tiger. Also it is an excellent bird watching destination. Similarly, Koshi Tappu, Shuklaphanta, and Parsa Wildlife Reserves are perfect places to see wildlife in Nepal. The Sagarmathe National Park is another nature world heritage site where some of the great treks in the Himalaya are done and have lodging available along the main trekking route. The Annapurna Conservation Area Project covers the trekking areas around the Annapurna Massif. BIRD WATCHING |
Nepal has 848 recorded species of birds. An ardent bird watcher can travel the length and breadth of Nepal doing little else but bird watching. Birding is possible everywhere in Nepal from the hot plains in the south, the Kathmandu Valley in the mid hills, to the mountainous regions of the north. |

MOUNTAIN BIKING |
Nepal offers attractive trails for mountain biking. You can mountain bike almost all tourism sites and sounds of Kathmandu and its surrounding destinations. You can bike to temples, monasteries, scenic sites and rural villages to explore the people’s way of life. The outskirts of Kathmandu city such as Bhaktapur and Changu Narayan temple, Budhanilkantha and Nage Gompa, Sankhu and the valley rim hills of Nagarkot, Dhulikhel, Kakani and Godavari are great places to mountain bike.Longer mountain bike trips from Kathmandu or neighboring destinations are Dhulikhel to Kodari (Nepal-Tibetan border); Naubise to Chitwan National Park via Palung Valley, Daman, and through the industrial town of Hetauda in the terai plains. Naubise to Hetauda is the old highway almost deserted with the opening of Kathmandu-Mugling highway and has fewer vehicle traffic and great scenery of rural Nepal including some of the greatest Himalayan views. Daman is the greatest Himalayan viewpoint close to Kathmandu with a viewing tower equipped with telescope for viewing mountains such as Everest and other great peaks. |

The waters in Nepal offer something for everybody: Grade 5-5+ rivers with raging white water rapids for the adventurous, to Grade 2-3 Rivers with a few rapids for novices. MOUNTAIN FLIGHT SIGHTSEEING |
A scenic flight over the highest mountains on earth gives you the opportunity to see the Himalayan range of Nepal from a birds-eye view. On a clear day, these majestic snowcapped peaks are showcased from your airplane window allowing you to take some amazingly beautiful panoramic pictures.Mountain flight sightseeing takes place very early in the morning at sunrise when the sea of clouds is just waking up in the deep valleys and plains. As you take your mountain flight, you will see sharp peaks standing tall and still above the greenish-brown hills where the villages in the valleys and slopes are dotted with cooking fire smoke columns as the local people make their breakfast. The mountain flight trip lasts about an hour and takes you to Mount Ghauri Shanker, the Everest, Makalu, and Kanchenjunga in the east and Manaslu to the Annapurna Massif in the central Nepal. If you want to see the tall and beautiful Himalayan range from the air, this is a trip to consider. Advance reservations are required. |
